Hebrews 4:13 (NLT) says, “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.”
We might be able to hide things from people, but we can never hide anything from God. His knowledge of us is perfect and complete, as He sees beyond our external actions and knows our thoughts, intentions, and the very depths of our hearts. God is looking for a holy people, a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9), those who will live with transparency and righteousness before Him.
In our human nature, we often try to cover up mistakes, sins, or hidden motives, just as Adam and Eve did when they tried to hide from God after eating the forbidden fruit (Genesis 3:8-10). They felt shame, and in their attempt to conceal their sin, they ran away from the very presence of the One who had created them. Yet even though they tried to hide, God still saw them—everything was already exposed before His eyes.
This reminds us that God sees everything, and no matter how much we try to cover ourselves with excuses or secrecy, we are fully visible to Him. Just as Adam and Eve’s attempt to hide their nakedness was futile, so too is any effort to conceal our sins or actions from God.
Even when no one else sees our wrongdoings, God does. When we act in secret, indulging in desires that we know are wrong, we may think we are safe because no one knows. But the truth is, God knows. He sees everything. And in His righteousness, He will hold us accountable.
Therefore, we are called to live honourably, without wickedness or deceit. Let us walk with pure hearts, knowing that our lives are lived before the One who sees and knows all, and to whom we will one day give account for every thought and action. Let us be the kind of people who walk in the light, living for God’s glory and honour.
