Psalm 103 is a beautiful reminder of God’s immense love, mercy, and faithfulness to us. As I was reflecting on it, I recalled something our Bishop mentioned during service or kesha: how people who talk to themselves are often quite intelligent. It made me smile because, as an introvert, I often talk to myself too—sometimes even locking myself away just to process my thoughts. When I read Psalm 103, I felt validated in a new way. David himself, in this chapter, speaks to his soul, reminding it to praise the Lord no matter the circumstances.
David starts by saying, “Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me.” (Psalm 103:1-2 NLT). What a beautiful reminder to always remember God’s goodness, especially in difficult times when it’s easy to forget.
This chapter has been such a joy to read, as it calls us to pause and reflect on all the blessings we have. For instance, one of the things I’m personally grateful for is my dad’s good health. At 65, after going through comprehensive checkups in India, everything was perfectly fine—just as God created him. “He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!” (Psalm 103:5 NLT). Isn’t it amazing how God intentionally fills our lives with good things? Even in seasons of struggle, He is renewing us, just like the eagle who goes through a painful process to renew its strength.
The chapter also reminds us that “The Lord gives righteousness and justice to all who are treated unfairly.” (Psalm 103:6 NLT). God sees every injustice, and while He is merciful and patient, His justice is inevitable. We may not always want our enemies to face the consequences, but God’s timing and judgment are perfect.
One of the most comforting verses in this chapter is Psalm 103:10: “He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve.” What a loving and merciful God we serve! His compassion is beyond measure.
Later in the chapter, David speaks of God’s love: “But the love of the Lord remains forever with those who fear him. His salvation extends to the children’s children of those who are faithful to his covenant, of those who obey his commandments!” (Psalm 103:17-18 NLT). How beautiful is that promise? Knowing that my faithfulness today will extend to my children and even their children encourages me to remain steadfast in my walk with the Lord.
This chapter has truly blessed me, and I hope it blesses you as well. Even when we go through tough seasons, let’s remember to praise the Lord and never forget His goodness.
To God be all the glory. Have a blessed day ahead! Today is special for me as I am hosting some anointed guests for fellowship, a first for me, and I am beyond joyful – something my grandma was fond of doing.
Be blessed!
