Today, I woke up with the words, “My food is to do the will of my Father” (John 4:34 NLT), deeply tugging at my heart. In my dream, I was speaking to someone, and these were the only words I kept repeating over and over until I woke up. How profound, because these were the very words of Jesus.
In John 4:34, Jesus said, “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing His work.” Jesus, though a carpenter by trade, never sought fulfillment in His earthly work. Nowhere in Scripture do we see Him making a living from carpentry. Instead, Jesus found His deepest satisfaction and fulfillment in doing the will of His Father. That was His food—what sustained Him, nourished Him, and gave His life meaning.
Perhaps Jesus loved carpentry because it was within God’s will for Him to be a carpenter. When you are in God’s will, He will direct you to the right job, occupation, or work. But if you seek those things first, before seeking His Kingdom and righteousness, they will never bring true satisfaction.
How often do we tire ourselves, working tirelessly in pursuit of fulfillment, believing our jobs or careers will give us the life we desire? Yet, Jesus teaches us a timeless truth: true satisfaction is not found in what we do for a living but in aligning our lives with God’s will.
David reminds us in Psalm 37:25, “I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread.” When you do the will of God, you will never lack. You won’t go hungry because He will provide. Opportunities will find you—you won’t have to chase them. Favor will locate you, and you will live a rich and fulfilling life.
Jesus Himself said, “My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life” (John 10:10 NLT). This abundant life does not come from worldly success but from seeking and living out God’s will.
God’s will for all of us begins with this: “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need” (Matthew 6:33 NLT). When we prioritize God’s Kingdom, He takes care of every need and desire. He will guide us to the right opportunities, relationships, and paths.
Life becomes truly worthwhile when we align our lives with Him and His purpose. Have a blessed and purpose-filled day. 🖤
