My life has transformed so much that I now even dream in Scripture. This morning, I woke up from a dream where I was about to teach a youth Bible study on love. It felt like I had been chosen to lead the discussion, and as I walked in, the pastor was telling the group, “Kate is the one to teach, and you all know that once she starts talking, she doesn’t stop!” Hahaha. While that’s not entirely true, I sometimes get so much joy talking about God that I do go on and on.
The Scripture I started sharing was John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” What stood out to me was the word gave. Love, as God demonstrates it, is giving. It doesn’t say God loved the world so He promised or simply said something—it says He gave. His love is active, sacrificial, and tangible.
The “world” in this verse is you and me. We are products of His love. God loved us so deeply that He gave His best—His only Son, Jesus Christ. I imagine my daughter, who is a part of me, and I can’t fathom giving her away. Yet, God gave His Son, a part of Himself, to a fallen world so we could be saved.
Last Sunday, my pastor said something that deeply moved me. He explained that God is so pure and holy that He cannot look at us directly because all He sees is sin. His holiness is so overwhelming that His gaze alone would consume us. But through the blood of Jesus, God sees us differently. The pastor said, “It’s as if God wears glasses tinted by the blood of Jesus to look at us.” That imagery has stayed with me.
This truth has made me reflect on just how sinful we are. On our own, we cannot approach God. Isaiah 64:6 says, “All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags.” Despite this, God made a way. Through the sacrifice of Jesus, we are cleansed and made new. 1 John 1:7 reminds us, “But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.”
The blood of Jesus doesn’t just cover us; it transforms us. Isaiah 1:18 says, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.” When God looks at us now, He sees His Son’s righteousness, not our sin. He sees a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). His love and sacrifice mean that His judgement no longer brings death but offers eternal life.
I know this may sound like an Easter message, yet it ties perfectly with Christmas. Without Christ’s birth, there would be no cross. As my grandmother used to ask every Christmas, “Yes, it’s Christmas, but has Christ been born in your heart today?” I ask the same question to you. Has Christ been born in your heart today?
This Christmas, remember the depth of God’s love—a love so profound that He gave His one and only Son. John 3:16 reminds us, “Whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” When you walk with Christ, God no longer sees you through the lens of judgement. Instead, He sees you covered by the blood of Jesus—redeemed, protected, and made whole.
This revelation has given me a glimpse of God’s holiness, and it overwhelms me. We serve a holy, righteous, and loving God. May He be glorified in our lives. Wishing you a blessed and reflective Christmas. Remember, God loves you—so much that He gave.
Have a beautiful day. 🖤
