Revelation 4:11 ICB [11]
“Our Lord and God! You are worthy to receive glory and honor and power. You made all things. Everything existed and was made because you wanted it.”
Everything existed and was made because God wanted it. This reminds me of the verse in John that says, “Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made.” (John 1:3). Can you imagine that? You are here today because God wanted you here. Your was is here today because God wanted him here. Your children are here today because God wants them here.
This is especially comforting for those who feel rejected. Even if the world turns its back on you, you can rejoice in the fact that God Himself wanted you. He still wants you here.
Now, I’m sure you’re also asking the same question I asked myself: What about the bad things? Did God create the evil in the world? After thinking a lot about it, I realized that He didn’t. God is light, and in Him, there is no darkness at all (1 John 1:5). I believe that everything God created was good. Evil entered the world when Lucifer was cast down.
I remember explaining to you all last year about what happened between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2. In summary, there was a rebellion in heaven—Lucifer wanted to exalt himself above God. As a result, he and a third of the angels were thrown down to earth, which is why the earth was formless and void. It wasn’t that God created it that way—the devil’s presence brought chaos and destruction.
God does not create evil, and the devil has no power to create. What the devil does is corrupt what God has made. God creates good, but the enemy comes to twist and destroy it, turning something pure into something used for evil. All the good in the world exists because God created it and wanted it to exist. All the bad exists because the devil corrupted what was once good.
And why does the devil do this? Because he still craves the glory that belongs to God. He will continue to deceive and destroy lives, leading people away from God, so that instead of worshipping their Creator, they give their lives over to darkness.
And how do people give their lives over to darkness? By worshipping the created instead of the Creator.
What is the created? It is everything that exists.
Going back to our main verse, “Everything existed and was made because You wanted it.” (Revelation 4:11). The created is anything and everything that God made because He desired it to be here. Genesis 1 lists all that God created—light, the heavens, the earth, the waters, vegetation, animals, and human beings. Even angels were created by God.
Now, those we call demons? They were also created by God, but not as demons. They were angels before they fell. Lucifer himself was created by God. He wasn’t created evil; he became evil when pride corrupted him, and he rebelled. The Bible says, “You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in you.” (Ezekiel 28:15).
Success, money, fame, people, animals, and even inanimate objects—everything that exists was made by God. John 1:3 confirms this: “Through Him all things were made; without Him, nothing was made that has been made.”
So when people idolize success, wealth, relationships, power, or even themselves, they are worshipping the created instead of the Creator. Romans 1:25 puts it plainly: “They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.”
That is how people unknowingly hand themselves over to darkness. Not necessarily by bowing to Satan in a ritual, but by shifting their devotion away from God to things that were never meant to be worshipped. And that is exactly what the devil wants—to redirect the glory that belongs to God.
But we are called to worship only the One who made all things, the One who wanted us here, the One who holds everything together. Let us not fall into the deception of worshipping what was created instead of the Creator Himself.
Whenever you see someone behaving badly, know that the devil and his fallen angels are bringing chaos into God’s creation. They are tormenting that person, and through them, tormenting others.
How can a good person call another a dog? How can someone who is good wish harm upon another? How can a person rejoice in another’s downfall? How can a father kill his own son over something as trivial as changing a radio station? None of these things are normal.
If the devil, when cast down to earth, caused so much chaos that the once-perfect world was left in ruins, entirely covered by water, and God had to restore order by calling forth creation from beneath the confusion (a discussion for another day), then what kind of destruction can that same devil bring into a person’s life? The devil thrives on disorder, and he uses people to spread it. If he had the power to throw the whole earth into chaos, what won’t he do through human beings? What won’t he do to human beings?
The devil hates you. Remember what Psalms says? “What is man that You are mindful of him? Yet You made him a little lower than God and crowned him with glory and honor.” (Psalm 8:4-5). Man was created in the image of God. The very thing Lucifer desired—to be like God—was given freely to man. That is why he attacks and torments people relentlessly.
I know suffering well. I have endured a lot in this life. A lot. And it is all because we live in a fallen world. But why do some suffer more than others? Purpose. God never wastes suffering. It is through our suffering that He refines us, shapes us, and makes us into who He created us to be. It is in suffering that we are “panel beaten” into vessels fit for our calling.
Look at Joseph. We recently talked about Joseph, Manasseh, and Ephraim. Joseph endured betrayal, slavery, false accusations, and imprisonment—all because of purpose. But when the time was right, everything made sense.
I didn’t expect today’s post to be this long, and I have barely scratched the surface of what has been on my heart since morning. But I’ll stop here for now. We can continue this another day. And if you ever miss these posts, remember that I always save them on our website, so you can read them anytime at www.graceful.co.ke.
Have a beautiful day. 🖤
